Job summary

Ionbond, Madison Heights, seeks a QHSE Manager to lead the Quality Assurance function, establish standards with Engineering and Operations, and drive continuous improvement across coating operations. You will manage corrective actions, train staff, and ensure regulatory compliance while collaborating with local and regional teams.

The role emphasizes 5S/Kaizen, HSE enhancements, and solid audit experience; travel up to 10% is possible as part of maintaining quality across sites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in quality management, engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum five years in quality management or engineering roles; ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 experience.
  • Qualified internal auditor with at least three years auditing experience.
  • Strong Excel skills; ability to read blueprints and interpret technical documents.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and administer the Quality Assurance function and document controls.
  • Establish and maintain quality standards and metrics with Eng & Ops.
  • Initiate improvement events (5S, Kaizen) to reduce waste and variation.
  • Improve Health, Safety, and Environmental standards in the plant.
  • Evaluate non-conforming product processes with cross-functional teams.
  • Train the quality system and manage customer complaint information.

Minimum of five years of quality management, engineering, or college-level experience. Have a strong background in ISO 9001 Quality systems to ensure compliance. Experience in implementing and maintaining IATF 16949:2016. Qualified internal auditor with a minimum of three years in auditing. Advanced knowledge of Excel and possess strong organizational and verbal skills. Experience in thin film coatings is preferred but not required. Strong ability to work from blueprints, inspection specifications, and written/verbal instructions. Strong ability to develop work instructions and other quality documents. 6S Greenbelt is highly preferred.
