Job summary

Actalent is hiring a Lab Technician for its Kokomo, IN facility to support Quality Control testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products. You will operate chromatographic and spectroscopic equipment, collect data, and help drive CAPA and process improvements.

The role requires an Associate degree in a related field and at least 2 years of lab experience, with the ability to work a 3rd shift (8:00 p.m.–8:00 a.m.) on a rotating schedule.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Technology, Laboratory Science, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 2 years of experience in laboratory work, quality control, materials testing, chemical processing, or manufacturing.
• Hands‑on experience operating laboratory instrumentation and interpreting analytical test results.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to generate accurate technical documentation and perform data analysis.
• Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams.
• Knowledge of SOPs, quality systems, and safe laboratory practices.
• Experience in battery materials, conductive slurries, specialty chemicals, coatings, adhesives, polymers, or advanced materials.
• Experience performing material characterization, purity analysis, contaminant testing, and solvent analysis.
• Experience in root cause analysis, CAPA programs, supplier quality, and process improvement initiatives.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, IATF, or other regulated quality management systems.
• Ability to work 3rd shift (8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.) on a rotating schedule.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing and quality inspections on raw materials, in-process production samples, and finished products to verify specifications.
• Conduct analytical testing, including viscosity, solids content, density, moisture, conductivity, particle size, and other material performance evaluations.
• Operate analytical instrumentation to characterize materials and confirm product quality, using GC, HPLC, spectroscopy, and particle size analyzers.
• Collect and prepare samples in accordance with established testing procedures, SOPs, and quality requirements.
• Record, analyze, and clearly communicate test results to production, engineering, and quality teams to support decision‑making.
• Verify compliance with product specifications and promptly identify non‑conforming materials, processes, or results for further investigation.
• Perform routine calibration, preventive maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of laboratory equipment to ensure reliable operation and data integrity.
• Support root cause investigations, CAPA, and process improvement efforts related to material quality and manufacturing performance.
• Maintain accurate laboratory documentation, test records, and quality system compliance, ensuring audit‑ready data and traceability.
• Promote and maintain a safe, organized, and compliant laboratory environment, following safe laboratory practices and applicable quality system requirements.
