Job summary

Quest Diagnostics seeks a Lab Assistant II in Kokomo, IN, Monday–Friday, 1:00 PM–9:30 PM with rotational weekend duties. Base pay starts at $17.20/hour with potential shift differentials of 10% for some second-shift hours and 15% for some third-shift hours.

Eligible for annual performance bonus; comprehensive benefits available for FT employees. The role involves routine lab tasks to support laboratory professionals, including specimen handling, labeling, preparation, LIS data entry, and QA/QC

Qualifications

• One (1) year full-time experience in a technical or clinical laboratory department.
• Must demonstrate the ability to follow steps without confusion or errors on an ongoing basis.
• Must be detail-oriented, able to work independently, establish priorities and handle multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen receiving, labeling, handling and preparation.
• Assist with pre-analytical preparation of specimens (e.g., printing labels, uncap/cap tubes, aliquot specimens, prepare racks, enter/scan specimens and load automated instruments).
• Record digital temperature; notify licensed personnel if temperature is out of range.
• Perform routine instrument maintenance on some equipment.
• Assist in preparation of chemicals, reagents and solutions.
• Enter data in laboratory information systems (LIS).
• Perform QA/QC duties as assigned.
• Comply with health and safety policies and use PPE.
