Job summary

Covestro's Frankfort, Indiana site offers a 3-month QC Lab Internship for Summer 2027 (May–August). You will support day-to-day lab activities and perform QC testing (GC, viscometer, pH, solids, particle size) under supervision, with training provided.

Eligible students are enrolled in a Bachelor's program in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Biology, have completed freshman year, and preferably hold a 3.0 GPA. This internship provides hands-on experience in a manufacturing lab environment.

Qualifications

• Freshman year completion required.

Responsibilities

• Perform QC testing of polymer emulsions including GC, viscometer, pH, solids and particle size.
• Calibrate and verify lab equipment.
• Maintain data and records.
• Follow laboratory safety procedures and protocols.
• Work under general supervision with increasing independence after training.

The Covestro location in Frankfort, Indiana produces large scale waterborne acrylic emulsions for the use in coatings and adhesives. As a QC Lab Intern within Covestro, you will be responsible for a wide range of lab activities to support day-to-day and ongoing projects. Candidates must be available for a 3-month assignment during the Summer of 2027 (May to August).

Responsibilities

• Polymer emulsion QC testing including but not limited to GC, viscometer, pH, solids, and particle size
• Calibration and verification of lab equipment
• Data and record keeping
• Abide by laboratory safety procedures and protocols
• Interns will work under general supervision but with a high degree of independence once trained

WHAT YOU OFFER

Basic Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program at the time of the internship, which is May 2027 to August 2027
• Focus on one of the following majors: Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology
• Completion of Freshman year

Preferred Qualifications

• Overall GPA of 3.0
• Completion of sophomore year preferred
• Chemistry or Biochemistry majors
• Previous lab experience is a plus

Skills and Experience

• Experience with and knowledge about basic chemistry and safe work habits in a laboratory environment
• Demonstrated PC skills and ability to work within Microsoft Office programs
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail, as well as strong written and oral communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
