Job summary

Texas Pipe And Supply Company is seeking an Entry-level Quality Inspector in Shreveport, LA. You will interpret drawings, perform measurements, and verify conformance of incoming materials and in-process products using precision instruments.

You will document results, maintain inspection records, and communicate adjustments to the QC team. This role requires basic math, attention to detail, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds in a manufacturing setting.

Job description

Job Details: Level: Entry | Job Location: Shreveport, LA 71107 | Job Shift: 2nd

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Interprets procedures, specifications, and drawings to determine if product meets standards.
• Uses calipers, dial indicators, micrometers, thickness gauges, surf testers, radius gauges, and height gauges to determine if product meets standards.
• Inspects and approves incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
• Inspects in-process production by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, communicating required adjustments to QC Lead or production supervisor.
• Approves finished products by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, returning products for re-work, and confirming re-work.
• Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarizing re-work and waste, and inputting data into quality database to create required documentation.
• Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions and calibration requirements and calling for repairs.
• Notifies QC Lead or quality management of trending nonconformances / rework issues.
• Provides on the job training to new employees as needed.
• Follows all safety and health policies and procedures issued by the company.
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Ability to read tape measure accurately.
• Detail oriented and high organization skills.
• Ability to utilize and read quality inspection equipment accurately.
• Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Safety equipment to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, steel-toe work boots, and gloves are required in plant.
