Job summary

The City of Seattle's Seattle Information Technology department seeks a Quality Assurance Test Analyst to join the EPIC delivery team supporting the permitting application used across departments. You will test software solutions, both functionally and technically, with a focus on the permitting system and related applications.

You will review specs, create and execute test cases (manual and automated), document defects, and provide testing estimates and progress reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer technology or equivalent field or experience.
• In-depth experience as a quality assurance tester, or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the position duties.
• Experience testing web-based applications.
• Experience creating functional test cases to ensure specifications are fully met.
• Experience developing and executing automated tests.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining appropriate communication with supervisor about progress and issues.
• General knowledge of database structures and tools (such as SQL, Oracle, MS Access, etc.), including the ability to execute queries.
• Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural workplace with a diverse customer base.

Responsibilities

• Review existing functional and technical specification documents and plan appropriate test strategies.
• Participate in the creation of new functional and technical specification documents with an eye toward precision and testability.
• Create and execute test cases, both manual and automated.
• Document and track defects.
• Provide estimates of testing effort.
• Provide status and progress reports.
• Work with teammates to create test automation to measure system performance.
• Contribute to ongoing improvement of team QA processes, templates, and best practices.
• Support department goals in promoting diversity and social justice.
• This position requires occasional non-standard working hours.
• Perform varied tasks as assigned commensurate with this classified position level.
