Job summary

City of Seattle Information Technology is seeking a Quality Assurance Test Analyst to join the EPIC delivery team. You will test the permitting application and related systems, crafting test plans, executing cases, and documenting defects while collaborating with multiple departments to align with business goals.

The role emphasizes test automation, performance testing, and adherence to QA best practices within a hybrid schedule, including some non-standard hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer technology or equivalent field or experience.
• In-depth experience as a quality assurance tester, or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the position duties.
• Experience testing web-based applications.
• Experience creating functional test cases to ensure specifications are fully met.
• Experience developing and executing automated tests.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining appropriate communication with supervisor about progress and issues.
• General knowledge of database structures and tools (SQL, Oracle, MS Access, etc.), including the ability to execute queries.
• Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural workplace with a diverse customer base.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing existing functional and technical specification documents and plan appropriate test strategies.
• Participating in the creation of new functional and technical specification documents with an eye toward precision and testability.
• Creating and executing test cases, both manual and automated.
• Documenting and tracking defects.
• Providing estimates of testing effort.
• Providing status and progress reports.
• Working with teammates to create test automation to measure system performance.
• Contributing to ongoing improvement of team QA processes, templates, and best practices.
