Job summary

Paycom - ATS in Baxley, GA seeks a detail-oriented Quality Inspector to perform dimensional and visual inspection of steel fabrications and welds. The role requires reading drawings, verifying heat numbers, and ensuring compliance with shop drawings and AWS standards.

The candidate will review non-conformities, document results, and coordinate with welders and management on remediation while ensuring certification and proper testing for projects.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of steel fabrication practices and applicable codes (AISC, AWS).
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and documents.
• Ability to inspect parts visually and dimensionally with supervision.
• Must be able to pass AWS D1.1 weld test.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Fluent reading, writing and speaking English.

Responsibilities

• Perform dimensional and visual inspection of parts, sub-assemblies, assemblies, processes, and final product.
• Perform part inspection, in-process inspection, and final inspection of fabrication processes and finished product.
• Inspect incoming raw materials and other purchased materials.
• Document and identify material by heat number.
• Verify welds and dimensional accuracy per shop drawings.
• Document and report non-conformities found during inspection.
• Communicate with management and shop floor employees professionally.
• Suggest remediation of ongoing quality issues and instruct welders to improve deficiencies and correct issues.
• Ensure welders are certified to applicable standards and test welders as required.
• Oversee all testing for projects/customers (hydrostatic, dye penetrant, etc.).
