Weld Quality Inspector – Fabrication
Pay: $21.00–$25.00 per hour

Savannah Tank & Equipment Corporation is expanding its Quality Control team and is seeking a Weld Quality Inspector to support quality throughout the fabrication process.
This position works directly on the shop floor inspecting fabricated tanks and equipment, identifying quality issues, maintaining inspection records, and working with production personnel to make sure work meets drawings, specifications, and applicable quality requirements.
What You'll Do
- Visually inspect completed and in-process welds for size, length, workmanship, and visible defects.
- Inspect welds produced using GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, and SAW processes.
- Identify visible defects such as porosity, cracks, pinholes, incomplete work, or other unacceptable conditions.
- Perform regular shop-floor inspections at designated quality checkpoints.
- Verify fabricated equipment for dimensional accuracy and conformance with fabrication drawings.
- Clearly and promptly communicate quality concerns to the Quality Control Manager, supervisors, and production personnel.
- Track quality issues and verify that corrective work has been completed.
- Create and maintain inspection reports, checklists, and other quality records.
- Assist with maintaining Material Test Reports and material traceability documentation.
- Assist Receiving Quality personnel with dimensional verification when needed.
- Witness pressure testing to verify fabricated equipment is leak‑free.
- Perform pre‑shipment inspections to verify required components and accessories are complete.
- Use Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and company systems to maintain quality documentation.
- Work overtime as needed.
- Perform other quality‑control duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Working knowledge of welding and metal fabrication processes.
- Ability to visually identify common welding and fabrication defects.
- Ability to accurately read tape measures, fabrication drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation.
- Ability to clearly and promptly communicate quality concerns.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to work independently and professionally with production employees, supervisors, customers, and outside inspectors.
- Ability to maneuver around, over, under, and when required, inside fabricated equipment to perform inspections.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.Must meet Savannah Tank's pre‑employment requirements.
Preferred
- 2+ years of welding inspection, welding, fabrication, or closely related quality experience.
- Familiarity with GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, and/or SAW welding processes.
- Working knowledge of NDE inspection practices.
- Familiarity with ASME and API requirements for tank or pressure‑vessel fabrication.
- Previous experience performing dimensional or fabrication inspections.
- Experience documenting and resolving quality issues in a manufacturing environment.
