Job Description:

Initially, all candidates will perform QA Floor Inspection of plastic parts at the presses in the shop. As they gain experience, QA Inspectors will transition to Quality Lab Tech duties.

Desired Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Previous QA experience preferred (at least 1 year).
3. Ability to read blueprints preferred.
4. Mic and caliper knowledge preferred.
5. Computer literacy preferred.
6. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
7. Ability to stand/walk for up to 8 hours.

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Quality Lab Supervisor and guidance from the Quality Lab Tech Lead, the Quality Assurance Lab Technician is responsible for testing, inspection, dimensional analysis, and supporting other departments at HellermannTyton. The role involves product and process inspections in both production and lab environments, managing files and software, and supporting certifications such as TS16949/ISO14001/EMS. Overtime and some weekend hours may be required.

Essential Functions:

• Understand customer expectations related to product quality.
• Support a team atmosphere and mentor operators on quality matters.
• Perform 1st Piece Inspection and in-process inspection of products.
• Conduct product-specific tests, including tensile and moisture analysis.
• Verify material certifications and approve raw materials.
• Enter and edit SPC data; file QA records and samples.
• Use incoming color samples to verify colorant.
• Handle non-conforming materials and documentation.
• Perform dimensional layouts referencing drawings.
• Record inspection data using SPC software.
• Weigh parts and utilize control plans, PPAP, and PPC testing.
• Support maintaining certifications by adhering to policies and documentation.
• Serve as a resource for production regarding product quality.
• Determine "Clean Point" for non-conformances and support LEAN initiatives.
• Other duties as assigned.

Key Competencies:

• Ability to read blueprints.
• Proficiency with basic hand measuring tools.
• Basic math skills.
• Effective communication skills (written and oral).
• Basic computer skills are a plus; knowledge of injection molding is a plus.
