Job Description:

Initially, all candidates will perform QA Floor Inspection of plastic parts at the presses in the shop. As they gain experience, these QA Inspectors will transition to Quality Lab Tech work.

Desired Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Previous QA experience preferred (at least 1 year).
3. Ability to read blueprints preferred.
4. Mic and caliper knowledge preferred.
5. Computer literacy preferred.
6. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
7. Ability to stand/walk for up to 8 hours.

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Quality Lab Supervisor and guidance from the Quality Lab Tech Lead, the QA Lab Technician is responsible for testing, inspection, dimensional analysis, and supporting other departments. The role involves product and process inspections in both production and lab environments, managing files and software, and maintaining certifications such as TS16949, ISO14001, and EMS. Overtime and weekend hours may be required.

Essential Functions:

• Understand customer expectations regarding product quality.
• Support a team-oriented environment.
• Mentor operators on product quality.
• Perform 1st piece and in-process inspections.
• Conduct specific tests including tensile and moisture analysis.
• Verify material certifications and approve raw materials.
• Enter and edit SPC data.
• File QA records and samples.
• Verify colorant using color chip samples.
• Handle non-conforming materials appropriately.
• Perform dimensional layouts referencing drawings.
• Use SPC software for data recording.
• Weigh parts and perform control plan, PPAP, and PPC testing.
• Support maintaining quality and environmental certifications by adhering to policies and procedures.
• Serve as a resource for production regarding quality issues.
• Determine "Clean Point" for non-conformance issues.
• Support LEAN initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Competencies:

• Ability to read blueprints.
• Proficiency with basic hand measuring tools.
• Basic math skills.
• Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
• Basic computer skills; injection molding knowledge is a plus.
