Job summary

Apton, Inc. is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our Austin-area team on a 12+ month contract. You will develop and run test plans, perform functional/regression testing, and manage defects while validating applications on Ubuntu-based systems and in VDI/remote desktop environments.

The role requires 2+ years in QA, strong Linux command-line skills, and experience with Jira/TestRail plus VDI technologies. Collaboration with development and infrastructure teams is essential to ensure top-quality

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in CS, IT, Eng or related field or equivalent experience.
Minimum 2+ years of experience in Quality Engineering / QA.
Hands-on experience with Ubuntu/Linux systems and command-line operations.
Strong understanding of VDI technologies (Citrix, VMware Horizon, Azure Virtual Desktop) and remote desktop protocols (RDP, PCoIP, HDX).
Proficiency with defect tracking and test management tools (JIRA, TestRail, etc.).
Solid knowledge of software testing methodologies and processes.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
Perform functional, regression, integration, and performance testing.
Identify, track, and manage defects through resolution.
Test and validate applications on Ubuntu-based systems.
Write shell scripts for test automation and environment setup.
Validate applications and workflows within VDI and remote desktop environments.
Ensure connectivity, performance, and user experience across virtual desktop sessions.
Support creation and maintenance of virtual infrastructure for test environments.
Provide quality metrics and status reports to stakeholders.
Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams throughout the SDLC.
