About the Role
Insight Global's client is seeking a Senior QA Automation Engineer to drive quality across mission-critical payment and financial systems. This individual will play a key role in defining testing strategy, building scalable automation frameworks, improving release confidence, and ensuring high-quality software delivery across a modern cloud-based platform. The ideal candidate is a hands-on QA leader who enjoys solving complex challenges, influencing engineering best practices, leveraging AI-powered development tools, and mentoring team members while working closely with engineering, product, and compliance stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain automated testing solutions for backend services, APIs, and critical payment workflows.
Design testing strategies that improve software quality, release confidence, and system reliability.
Create automated and manual test coverage across onboarding, identity verification, payments, settlement, foreign exchange, and supporting platform services.
Build and maintain integration testing frameworks for interactions with third-party partners and external APIs.
Partner with engineering teams to improve CI/CD quality standards, release validation processes, and test infrastructure.
Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and convert findings into automated testing improvements.
Establish best practices for test architecture, automation design, and quality engineering within assigned domains.
Lead technical discussions related to testing strategy and automation modernization initiatives.
Mentor QA engineers and provide guidance on testing methodologies, automation frameworks, and quality standards.
Utilize AI-assisted testing and development tools to improve productivity, coverage, and software quality.

Skills and Requirements
Must-Have
6 to 10+ years building production test automation, end-to-end.
Strong test automation skills in JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or C#, including test framework design, system design, and test architecture experience.
SQL and relational database fundamentals (for test data, validation, and debugging).
API testing (Postman, Bruno, or equivalent) and UI automation (Playwright, Cypress, or equivalent).
Functional and non-functional testing principles (reliability and security) and disciplined defect management, with hands-on performance, load, or resilience testing (k6, JMeter, or equivalent).
Comfortable generating test cases and running manual tests where they are the right tool, alongside building automated coverage.
Daily use of agentic coding tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent) and AI test tools (test generation, eval frameworks, or equivalent) across the SDLC.
Production experience with AWS in a development or test context, and CI/CD pipeline ownership (GitHub Actions or equivalent), including building release gates.
Payments, FX, or regulated-industry experience.
Track record of QA technical leadership: setting test architecture, leading code reviews of test automation, and making quality decisions in your domain.
Strong written and verbal communication. Experience with contract testing for partner integrations (Pact or equivalent).
Experience testing Windows client applications.
Mobile app test automation.
Experience leading modernization of test estates or quality programs.
