Job summary

Makai Digital is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to lead manual and automated testing across web, mobile and API platforms. You will define test strategies, execute exploratory testing, and design scalable automation frameworks in a fast-paced environment.

The role collaborates with developers, product managers and technical leads to ensure performance, reliability and security. You will drive QA excellence and contribute to continuous delivery practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in software quality assurance and a track record in manual and automated testing.
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining modern test automation frameworks using Cypress, Playwright or Selenium.
• Deep experience testing RESTful and GraphQL APIs using Postman and automated libraries.
• Strong exploratory testing, edge-case identification, and test planning skills.
• Experience integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Jenkins.
• Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, TestRail or Zephyr for bug tracking and test management.
• Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum processes and cross-functional collaboration.

Role Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly skilled Senior Quality Assurance Engineer with strong expertise in both manual and automated testing. In this role, you will be responsible for defining test strategies, executing hands-on manual exploratory testing, and designing scalable test automation frameworks across web, mobile, and API applications. You will collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and technical leads to ensure our solutions meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and security.

What You'll Do

• Test Strategy & Planning: Define comprehensive QA strategies, test plans, and detailed test cases based on product specs, wireframes, and acceptance criteria.
• Manual & Exploratory Testing: Perform thorough functional, regression, integration, accessibility, and exploratory testing to catch complex edge cases and usability issues.
• Automation Engineering: Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable test automation frameworks from scratch for web applications and APIs.
• API Testing: Validate RESTful and GraphQL APIs using both automated suites and manual tools (e.g., Postman).
• CI/CD Integration: Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions) to enable continuous testing and rapid deployment cycles.
• Defect Management: Identify, document, prioritize, and track bugs using Jira, working directly with engineering teams to ensure timely resolution.
• Quality Advocacy: Champion quality best practices across the SDLC, participating in backlog refinement and code reviews to prevent defects early in development.

Must-Haves

• Experience: 5 years of professional experience in software quality assurance, with a proven track record in both manual and automated testing.
• Automation Proficiency: Hands-on experience building and maintaining modern test automation frameworks using tools like Cypress, Playwright, or Selenium in TypeScript, JavaScript, or Python.
• API Testing: Deep experience testing APIs (REST, GraphQL) using tools like Postman and automated API testing libraries.
• Manual Testing Excellence: Strong analytical skills with expertise in exploratory testing, edge-case identification, and test plan creation.
• CI/CD & DevOps: Experience integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins).
• Tooling: Proficiency with bug tracking and test management systems (Jira, Confluence, TestRail, or Zephyr).
• Agile Collaboration: Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum processes and excellent cross-functional communication skills.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with performance and load testing tools (k6, JMeter, Gatling).
• Knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and accessibility testing tools (e.g., Axe).
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and cloud environments (AWS).
• Prior experience working in a software consulting, digital agency, or enterprise professional services setting.
