Job summary

Healthie is an AI-Native, ONC Certified EHR platform serving outpatient healthcare providers. We seek a QA Engineer to test a large, complex EHR with API and web app focus, collaborating with engineers, PMs, and designers.

You will own test areas, contribute to automation, and leverage AI tools to improve velocity and quality. Ideal candidates have 3+ years in QA, strong API and web testing, and experience with Playwright or similar frameworks.

We're looking for a QA Engineer to join a strong, collaborative QA team at Healthie. You'll test across a large, complex EHR platform, working closely with engineers, product managers, and designers to make sure what we ship works the way our customers need it to.

We want someone who loves hands-on testing: curious enough to dig into how a product works, sharp enough to spot where it might break, and empathetic enough to always be thinking about the clinicians and patients on the other side of the screen. AI tools are a core part of how we work, and we'll expect you to use them to move faster while staying critical of what they produce.

You'll own the product areas you test, and you'll be part of a growth-oriented culture where developing your craft is expected and supported.

Key Responsibilities

• Write and execute manual and automated test plans for web applications and APIs across the Healthie platform.
• Contribute to our Playwright automation suite, with judgment about which tests are worth automating and which are better left manual.
• Perform API testing using tools like Postman to validate backend services and data flows.
• Test with the customer in mind, thinking about how real clinicians and patients use the product.
• Learn new product areas quickly and build an understanding of where they're likely to break.
• Collaborate with engineers and product teams throughout the development lifecycle to catch issues early.
• Document defects with clear, detailed reproduction steps.
• Use AI tools, including Claude Code and other agentic coding tools, to accelerate test case generation, edge case discovery, automation, and documentation, while reviewing the output critically.

About you

• 3+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, testing web applications and APIs.
• Comfortable executing thorough manual test plans, and know when a test is worth automating.
• Hands-on experience with Playwright or a similar automation framework (Cypress, Selenium, WebdriverIO).
• Strong testing instincts: you spot edge cases, speak up when something feels off, and dig in to understand why something failed.
• Fast learner who gets up to speed on unfamiliar features and domains.
• Solid API testing skills and a working understanding of how frontend and backend systems fit together.
• Experience using AI tools day-to-day, including Claude Code or other agentic coding tools, with a critical eye for their output.
• Clear communicator who works well with engineers, product managers, and non-technical stakeholders.

Bonus Points

• Experience with GraphQL APIs.
• Familiarity with Ruby, TypeScript, or reading code to help diagnose a bug.
• Healthcare or regulated industry experience, including knowledge of HIPAA and PHI handling.
• This is a full-time, hybrid position within our NYC or LA office.
• U.S. work authorization is required, Healthie does not provide sponsorship.
• The base compensation for this position is $100,000 - $130,000.
