Job summary

AlgaeCal is seeking a Lead QA Developer to strengthen our fast-moving QA team and ensure every release is stable and scalable across storefronts and middleware.

You’ll own test strategy, mentoring, and automation framework evolution, integrating tests into our CI/CD and delivering reliable, fast feedback to developers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of QA development experience with automated testing strategies
• 2+ years of leadership, mentorship, or coaching experience
• Strong command of JavaScript and TypeScript in a modern JS/TS environment
• Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks like Cypress or Playwright
• Ability to architect, optimize, and scale automated testing frameworks across frontend storefronts and backend middleware
• Experience integrating automated tests into cloud-based CI/CD pipelines
• Sharp eye for quality metrics: automation coverage, pipeline stability, test runtimes, defect reduction
• Familiarity with API contract testing, performance profiling, load testing, and browser developer tools

Responsibilities

• Develop and evolve scalable QA architectures and automation frameworks
• Lead and mentor QA developers, review work, and raise technical standards
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to provide fast feedback
• Improve reporting, reduce flaky tests, and lower production defects
• Collaborate with frontend and backend teams to ensure strong test coverage across storefronts and middleware
