Ontinue is seeking a QA Automation Engineer in Canada to scale quality across a fast-moving engineering team. You will design automated tests for frontend, backend, and API flows, primarily using Playwright with TypeScript or C#.

You will coordinate releases, test cloud-based workflows, and balance speed with quality. The role emphasizes independence, organization, and the ability to create scalable workflows while collaborating with developers and stakeholders to improve processes and tooling.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years in QA, test automation, software engineering, or related field.
• Strong experience with test automation across frontend and API testing.
• Experience with Playwright or similar modern automation framework.
• Proficiency in TypeScript or C# for automation.
• Experience coordinating releases in microservices environments.
• Familiarity with Azure or other cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement automated tests for frontend, backend, and API flows.
• Use Playwright as core testing platform; tests in TypeScript or C#.
• Test microservices-based systems with attention to dependencies and release sequencing.
• Coordinate release readiness and determine testing priorities.
• Test Azure-based and event-driven workflows and message-based integrations.
• Combine automation with manual testing for efficiency and scalability.
• Improve manual testing processes to stay sustainable as the team grows.
• Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to build practical QA processes.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools to speed up test creation, maintenance, and analysis.
• Ensure quality scales with team speed rather than becoming a bottleneck.
