Job summary

Ontrac Solutions seeks a Network Automation & Reliability Engineer to automate hyperscale data center, backbone, and OOB networks. This Python-first role emphasizes writing production-grade tooling, telemetry pipelines, and self-healing automation for a global fleet.

You will work across Arista Juniper and Cisco platforms, implement gNMI/OpenConfig telemetry, and develop configuration management with Jinja2/NETCONF. On-call duties apply in a 24x7 rotating schedule.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated, sustained Python development in a production network/infrastructure.
• Production experience with BGP policy, path selection, multihoming, ECMP, and VXLAN/EVPN/MPLS overlays.
• Hands-on operations across at least two hardware platforms (e.g., Arista EOS, Juniper Junos, Cisco IOS-XR/NX-OS).
• Automation frameworks: Ansible and Jinja2; NETCONF/YANG, RESTCONF, or vendor REST APIs.
• Telemetry/monitoring: gNMI/gRPC, OpenConfig, SNMP, and dashboards/alerting.
• Linux proficiency: networking stack, packet capture, systemd, shell scripting.
• Git-based workflows with code review and CI pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, write, and maintain Python tooling for provisioning and auditing devices globally.
• Develop model-driven provisioning libraries using Jinja2 with NETCONF/YANG or REST APIs.
• Create automated remediation for recurring failures triggered by syslog and telemetry.
• Lead zero-downtime changes with tested, reviewed code and change governance.
• Operate and scale data center fabrics, backbone links, and OOB networks.
• Tune BGP policy (local preference, MED, communities) for resilient, multi-carrier paths.
• Execute capacity expansions, site turn-ups, and hardware qualification.
• Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation with incident response and RCAs.
