Job summary

Ontrac Solutions is seeking a Network Automation & Reliability Engineer to operate and automate hyperscale data centers, backbone, and OOB networks. This is a Python-first role: you will spend more of your week writing code that operates the network than typing on a CLI.

You will build tooling, telemetry pipelines, and self-healing automation that keep a global fleet of data centers and POP sites running, and you will carry the on-call pager for the systems you build.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated, sustained Python development in production networks or infrastructure.
• Production experience with BGP, IS-IS/OSPF, ECMP, and overlays (VXLAN/EVPN or MPLS).
• Hands-on operations across at least two vendor platforms (Arista, Juniper, Cisco).
• Experience with Ansible/Jinja2 and NETCONF/YANG or REST APIs for config management.
• Telemetry/monitoring using gNMI/OpenConfig, SNMP, or streaming telemetry; dashboards/alerts.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain Python tooling for provisioning, validation, and auditing devices.
• Build model-driven provisioning with Jinja2 and NETCONF/YANG or REST APIs.
• Develop automated remediation for recurring failures and drift reduction.
• Operate and scale data center fabrics, backbone, and OOB networks globally.
• Lead on-call rotation, incident response, RCAs, and automation follow-ups.
