Job summary

SMX is seeking a Software Engineer to build backend services in Python, working on real-time data and secure systems for national defense programs. This on-site role is based in Boulder, CO, four days per week, interfacing with customers and DoD collaborators.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years of Python experience, a BS or higher in CS or related field, and the ability to obtain an Interim DoD Secret clearance. Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes and Jira/Confluence is a plus.

Qualifications

• Clearance Required: Ability to Obtain - Secret. U.S. Citizenship is required. Background screen required.
• BS or advanced degree in Computer Science or another relevant field
• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience focusing on Python-based solutions

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deploy features.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code particularly using Python
• Utilize Gitlab, Gitlab Runner, Docker, Kubernetes and Helm Charts for deployments.
• Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues to ensure optimal performance.
• Utilize Jira for project management and tracking.
• Apply DoD standards and protocols to ensure compliance and security.
