Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an experienced PV Solar Design Engineer I or II to support design and proposal efforts for utility-scale projects in Minnesota. This hybrid role at MN HQ offers relocation and minimal travel.

You will work with AutoCAD, PVCase, PVFarm and PVSyst, coordinating with field and engineering teams. Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering and have at least two years in PV solar design or construction, with NEC knowledge and strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another related field.
• Minimum two years in PV Solar construction management or PV Solar design.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and related Autodesk software.
• Proficient in PVSyst and related solar performance modeling software.
• Demonstrated electrical, structural, and mechanical design skills with detailed construction drawings.
• Basic understanding of construction techniques and project management practices.
• Strong problem solving and proactive work ethic; accountability for own work.

Responsibilities

• Design utility-solar PV systems using AutoCAD, PVCase, PVFarm and related software.
• Establish Solar PV basis of design including module selection and sizing.
• Perform energy modeling using PVSyst; some SAM knowledge.
• Lead meetings with internal and external parties.
• Collaborate with field, construction and engineering teams to resolve issues.
