Position: Feed Sales Representative - Purina Animal Nutrition

We are hiring a Feed Sales Representative focusing primarily on Beef Cattle & Equine feed sales with our partner co-op in Marshfield, WI territory. This role involves selling feed and related products to optimize market share, improve efficiency, and support the cooperative/dealer’s mission and goals.

This is a remote (virtual) field-based sales position located within the geographic territory of Marshfield, WI.

Responsibilities

1. Calling on Beef Cattle, Equine, and Small Ruminant animal owners (primarily Cattle and Equine) to evaluate feeding programs and recommend nutritional solutions.
2. Selling and consulting at the farm gate (up to 25 farm calls per week) to promote Purina products, grow sales, and develop new prospects through cold calling.
3. Organizing and conducting educational selling events for cattle producers, equine owners, vets, trainers, etc., to enhance brand image, increase sales, and drive store traffic with the local co-op/dealer.

Experience and Education

• Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or related field strongly preferred.
• Candidates with a pending degree or proven sales/industry experience may be considered.
• Previous sales experience highly desired.
• Basic knowledge of nutritional and feeding recommendations for Beef Cattle and Equine.
• Understanding of animal husbandry, management practices, and nutritional guidelines.
• Experience in managing and caring for Horses and Cattle.
• Ability to provide accurate feeding and management recommendations.
• Strong computer skills, including MS Office, and ability to learn software like HerdSmart and Salesforce.

Travel Expectations

Approximately 15% overnight travel, in addition to daily travel within the assigned geography.

Compensation

This sales role offers a target mix of base salary plus commission. The base salary typically ranges from $53,000 to $60,000, depending on experience and tenure. The target bonus is $10,000. Candidates are usually hired near the middle of the salary range.
