Job description

We're hiring a Feed Sales Representative - Purina Animal Nutrition to focus primarily on Beef Cattle & Equine feed sales with our partner co-op in Marshfield, WI territory. This role involves selling feed and related products to optimize market share, improve efficiency, and support the cooperative/dealer’s goals.

This is a remote (virtual) field-based sales position that must be located within the geographic territory of Marshfield, WI.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Calling on Beef Cattle, Equine, and Small Ruminant animal owners (primary focus being Cattle and Equine) to evaluate feeding programs and recommend nutritional solutions.
  • Selling/consulting at farm calls (up to 25 per week) to promote Purina products and grow sales, including prospecting and cold calling.
  • Organizing educational meetings/events for 4H clubs, saddle clubs, vets, trainers, and show clubs to enhance brand image, sell products, and increase store traffic.
Experience/Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or related field preferred; candidates with pending degrees or proven sales/industry experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of nutritional and feeding recommendations for Beef Cattle and Equine.
  • Understanding of animal husbandry, management practices, and industry standards.
  • Experience in managing and caring for Horses and Cattle.
  • Proficiency in providing accurate feeding and management advice.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office, and ability to learn ration balancing software (HerdSmart), Salesforce, etc.
Competencies & Other Skills:
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • High motivation, relationship-building ability, and leadership qualities.
  • Ability to make multiple daily sales calls and conduct farm visits in all weather conditions.
  • Networking skills to foster industry relationships and business opportunities.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
  • Strong public speaking skills.
Travel:

- Approximately 15% overnight travel plus daily travel within the assigned area.

Compensation:

Base salary ranges from $53,000 to $60,000, dependent on experience, plus target bonus of $10,000. Compensation includes a mix of base salary and commissions.
