Job summary

The Dixon Group in Chestertown, MD is seeking a Purchasing Supervisor to lead our purchasing team and develop sourcing strategies to maintain optimal inventory and secure cost-effective solutions. You will collaborate with Production, Operations, Accounts Payable, and Quality Assurance to ensure timely material delivery and strong supplier relationships.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least five years of purchasing experience with leadership responsibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• APICS CPIM/CSCP certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct, coach, and mentor the Purchasing team and manage daily tasks and staffing.
• Develop purchasing strategies and optimize inventory while mitigating supply disruption risks.
• Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers and negotiate contracts and pricing terms.
• Partner with Production and Operations to ensure material availability and resolve purchasing discrepancies with AP.
• Analyze market trends and monitor supplier performance to drive cost savings without compromising quality.
• Track core purchasing metrics such as PPV, OTIF, lead times, and turnover.
