Job summary

The Florida Department of Health in Marion County is seeking a Purchas­ing Specialist to prepare and review purchasing documents, ensuring compliance with agency policies and state rules. You will work with supervisors and staff to meet requisition and purchase order timelines and maintain accurate tracking through spreadsheets.

The role requires knowledge of Ariba on Demand, state contracts, and vendor relations.

Qualifications

• Experience preparing purchasing documents and requisitions
• Experience with vendor relations and customer service
• Experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Valid Florida Driver's License
• Experience utilizing the State purchasing system (Ariba on Demand / MFMP)
• Experience processing deposits into the State accounting system
• Experience providing training presentations to groups

Responsibilities

• Prepares and reviews purchasing documents to ensure requisitions are accurate and conform to policy.
• Reviews purchases to identify problem areas and provide corrective action or training.
• Maintains vendor quotes and ensures compliance with state contracts.
• Prints, verifies, codes and enters deposits into the state accounting system.
• Acts as a backup purchasing agent and provides training to staff.
• Attends meetings and trainings to stay current with purchasing rules and procedures.
