This role serves as a key liaison between engineering and purchasing, reviewing BOMs and drawings, negotiating terms, issuing purchase orders, and ensuring timely material availability. Local candidates only or those moving to the area; no sponsorship offered.

Qualifications

• Requires 3+ years in purchasing, sourcing, or engineering support.
• Automotive industry experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

We are currently searching for a detail-oriented Purchasing Specialist to join our team!

Responsible for coordinating the procurement of engineering-related materials, equipment, tooling, services to support new program launches and on-going manufacturing operations. This role serves as a key liaison between engineering and purchasing functions. This role will have a schedule of Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm with possible travel depending on operational needs.

Please note: This role is open to local candidates only or candidates that are already in the process of moving to the area as there is no sponsorship or relocation package offered.

Responsibilities

• Review engineering drawings, specifications, bill of materials (BOMs) to determine purchasing requirements
• Facilitate supplier communication regarding technical requirements and engineering specifications
• Source engineering-related materials, tooling, equipment and services for quoting and launch
• Identify alternative suppliers to reduce risk and improve competitiveness
• Obtain and evaluate quotations, proposals, and lead times
• Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, payment terms, and service agreements with suppliers
• Prepare and issue purchase orders and verify receipt
• Coordinate material availability to support project schedules
• Create and issue project invoices to plants
• Collaborate with engineering team during all stages – quote, launch, design changes
• Analyze supplier pricing and identify cost-saving opportunities
• Help determine cost reduction and Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) initiatives
• Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost
• Track project purchasing costs against budget
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, contracts, supplier documentation, pricing agreements
• HQ fleet vehicle maintenance
• Suggest, plan, and implement positive changes for continuous improvement
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• AD or BD strongly preferred
• Minimum of three (3) years experience in purchasing, sourcing, or engineering support required
• Automotive Industry experience strongly preferred
• Proficient in computer programs including Microsoft Office such as Excel
• Skilled in communication with all levels of an organization and customers/clients
• Highly organized, results driven with great problem-solving skills
• Ability to multi-task and successfully operate in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
