Job summary

Selectlee is seeking a Purchasing Specialist in Franklin, Wisconsin. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing and procuring materials for commercial and industrial projects, managing vendor relationships and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products.

Position Title: Purchasing SpecialistFSLA Status: ExemptDepartment: Purchasing DepartmentReports to: Controller

Lee Mechanical, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Purchasing Specialist. The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for sourcing, procuring, and managing the acquisition of materials and equipment (like HVAC, piping, and plumbing supplies) for commercial and industrial projects. They will negotiate pricing with vendors, track inventory, and collaborate with project managers to ensure materials arrive on time and within budget.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Solicit bids, negotiate pricing and terms, and build strong, cost-effective relationships with suppliers
  • Track orders, monitor lead times, and expedite shipments to prevent project delays.
  • Partner with Project Managers and field teams to ensure procurement aligns with exact construction timelines
  • Monitor material costs, input pricing into job cost systems, and reconcile discrepancies on invoices and purchase orders
  • Source and purchase high-quality mechanical components, equipment, and supplies for multiple active jobsites.
  • Analyze project drawings, takeoffs, and specifications to identify material needs and verify requisition accuracy.
Key Competencies/Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required. A degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or Construction Management is preferred.
  • Experience: 2+ years of procurement or material coordination experience, specifically within mechanical construction or the HVAC/plumbing industry.
  • Technical Knowledge: Ability to read and interpret construction plans, schematics, and technical specifications preferred.
  • System Proficiency: Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, combined with clear, professional communication skills.
