Job summary

Insight Global's client is seeking an experienced Assistant Purchasing & SOM Manager to oversee daily purchasing, procurement, and order management operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The role emphasizes leadership, process improvement, ERP and Excel proficiency, vendor management, and collaboration with Sales, Operations, Logistics, Quality, and Customer Service to ensure accurate orders and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or order management.
• 5+ years of leadership or supervisory experience up to 15-20 people.
• Experience working with ERP systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee purchasing activities, including purchase orders, vendor management, and procurement planning.
• Monitor sales order processing to ensure accurate, timely order entry and fulfillment.
• Lead and develop Purchasing and SOM team members through training, coaching, and performance management.
• Collaborate with suppliers to manage pricing, expedite critical orders, resolve delivery issues, and support cost reduction initiatives.
• Partner with internal teams including Sales, Operations, Logistics, Quality, and Customer Service to ensure smooth execution of customer orders and supply chain operations.
• Analyze MRP data, purchasing trends, inventory needs, and order backlogs to support operational efficiency.
• Maintain vendor, pricing, and customer information within ERP systems.
• Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and process improvements.
• Track key performance metrics, including supplier performance and on-time delivery. Support hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and day-to-day team management activities.
