Summary
The person in this position is responsible for inbound and outbound logistics, material control, and safety management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage shipment and receipt of all products, materials, and supplies.
- Prepare and manage shippers, BOL, packing slips, and all shipping documentation for internal and external customers.
- Identify shipping issues and implement solutions promptly.
- Create and maintain weekly shipping reports and customer job reports.
- Select, develop, and oversee suppliers for outside contracting to ensure cost-effectiveness, timing, and quality.
- Purchase raw materials and supplies.
- Maintain stock list and update with ordered and received materials.
- Research and find alternative sources to reduce costs and increase quality.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with vendors.
- Issue POs, track receipt of goods and services, and close POs upon completion.
- Train and inform employees about hazardous materials to ensure compliance with the Right to Know Laws; obtain certification in first aid and CPR.
- Represent the company during OSHA and insurance inspections.
- Investigate and document accidents.
- Develop and maintain a company-wide safety program, including all related forms.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support company goals.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Good time-management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work well with all management levels and staff.
- Knowledge of logistics operations, shipping procedures, and documentation is a plus.
- Knowledge of cutting tools and machinery is a plus, but not required.
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
