Pet Food Experts is seeking a Purchasing Associate to procure products from manufacturers and ensure timely transfers to PetZoo stores. The role focuses on maintaining inventory levels to support a high fill rate without exceeding targets.

The position requires collaboration with teams to forecast new items and promotions, maintain costing data, and manage vendor relationships while communicating effectively with customers and suppliers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and two years related experience or training.
• College degree a plus
• Prior experience purchasing for retail/distribution preferred
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Experience using a computerized forecasting system desired
• Pet industry experience desired

Responsibilities

• Procure products for assigned vendor lines in multiple store locations to meet fill rate and inventory targets.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to forecast new items and promotional usage.
• Maintain item data including costing and other item maintenance fields.
• Participate in vendor relationships and manage communications with suppliers.
• Coordinate with upper management to maintain inventory levels and performance for everyday and promotional needs.
• Communicate accurately and timely with internal and external customers to resolve product, vendor and supply issues.
