Job summary

Haddad Plumbing and Heating Inc. in Newark, New Jersey is seeking an Assistant Purchaser to support the Purchasing Manager in sourcing materials and equipment. The role involves creating purchase orders, verifying costs, tracking inventory, and coordinating with vendors to ensure timely delivery.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented and eager to grow within purchasing. Hours are Monday–Friday, with some weekend needs as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of purchasing experience, preferably in plumbing/HVAC.
• Exceptional organizational and follow-up skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and MS Word.
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Accurately verify incoming and outgoing Purchase Orders and Packing Slips.
• Track and update inventory, ensuring accurate records in Inventory Programs.
• Create purchase orders, track and monitor their status.
• Issue and verify all costs of purchase orders according to project estimates.
• Create and present reports on inventory levels, discrepancies, and data.
• Procure material and equipment by negotiating cost, delivery schedule and terms with vendors.
• Follow up with vendors to ensure timely delivery.
• Participate in project meetings to understand delivery schedules.
• Monitor Purchasing Clerk to ensure work is completed accurately and on time.
• Meet daily with Purchasing Manager and Purchasing Clerk to review schedules and open POs.
• Assist with various purchasing tasks as requested by Purchasing Manager.
