Job description

Shaddock Homes, a fast-growing family homebuilding company based in Plano, Texas, has been serving the Dallas area for over 50 years. We specialize in award-winning move-up and high-end luxury homes primarily in the cities north of Dallas.

We are currently seeking a Purchasing Agent.

The Purchasing Agent will assist in preparing accurate budgets, reducing direct construction costs, and controlling variance expenditures. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, detail-oriented, possess a strong work ethic, and be a valuable team player. They will provide our construction managers, sales agents, and designers with reliable tools, such as skilled tradesmen, precise purchase orders, and competitively priced upgrade options, enabling us to deliver greater value and service to our homeowners.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Analyze assigned category costs monthly to verify budget accuracy.
  2. Evaluate trade partners through bid analysis, referrals, quality and service monitoring, and price point adherence.
  3. Maintain clear and accurate scopes of work and specifications.
  4. Keep data updated within the Brix database.
  5. Follow team schedules and processes for budgeting and option pricing, using checklists to ensure data accuracy.
  6. Identify and resolve sources of cost variances with subcontractors, builders, warranty, design, and sales teams.
  7. Quantify material quantities for various construction materials.
  8. Review purchase orders for accuracy.
  9. Sourcing new products and supply lines.
  10. Provide feedback to improve processes and workflows.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Purchasing experience in home building preferred.
  • Education in construction science or experience in related trades advantageous.
  • Experience with Hyphen/BRIX and measuring within PlanSwift is preferred.
  • Service-oriented mindset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook.

Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
