Job summary

Perry Homes in Houston, TX is seeking a Purchasing Agent who will negotiate pricing, manage vendor relationships, and set labor rates for new subdivisions. The role requires independent judgment and collaboration with VP of Purchasing and construction teams.

You will establish pricing for estimating, evaluate market vendors, and facilitate setup of new subdivisions. Strong negotiation, communication, and travel to Texas markets are valued; bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Business or Construction related field.
• 2+ years of experience in purchasing, operations or estimating preferred.
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
• Knowledge of estimating and purchasing principles and residential construction practices.
• Effective negotiating skills, strong communication and time management.
• Willingness to travel within Houston and other Texas markets.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate pricing and rebate agreements with vendors/contractors; adjust labor rates as needed.
• Manage vendor/product improvements and changes on projects.
• Advise construction personnel on vendor issues and liaise with vendors to resolve disputes.
• Establish pricing and costs to be used by Estimating.
• Facilitate setup of new subdivisions by setting labor rates and vendor selections.
• Review pricing for accuracy.
• Evaluate market for new or potential contractors/vendors.
