Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience purchasing construction materials for residential or modular homes.

• Knowledge of building materials, pricing, and lead times.
• Ability to work from plans, material lists, and takeoffs.
• Strong negotiation, organization, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Excel and construction management software.

Responsibilities

• Source materials, obtain and compare quotes, and negotiate pricing and purchasing terms.
• Purchase materials based on approved plans, takeoffs, specifications, and production schedules.
• Coordinate with estimating, design, factory production, and project management to confirm quantities, product requirements, budgets, and delivery dates.
• Maintain supplier relationships for structural materials, roofing, windows, doors, siding, insulation, drywall, MEP materials, cabinetry, flooring, and finishes.
• Issue and track purchase orders; resolve backorders, substitutions, damaged materials, and delivery issues.
• Maintain supplier contacts, price lists, purchasing records, and committed costs.
• Identify opportunities to improve pricing and availability through volume purchasing and preferred supplier agreements.
