Regional Purchasing Manager – Residential Construction
A high growth real estate investment and development firm is launching their new Homebuilding brand and are looking for a seasoned Purchasing/Procurement Manager to lead strategic sourcing and materials management for multiple residential development projects. This is a hands‑on, leadership role for someone who thrives on optimizing costs, building strong vendor relationships, and supporting high-quality homebuilding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute company-wide purchasing strategies to support multiple projects and product types.
- Negotiate master supply agreements, volume pricing, and long‑term pricing locks.
- Identify value‑engineering opportunities and alternative materials while maintaining design intent and quality.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers.
- Manage vendor performance, approved vendor lists, and resolve procurement challenges across projects.
- Coordinate with Development, Design, Construction, and Finance teams to align procurement with project milestones and budgets.
- Establish purchasing policies, workflows, approval limits, and reporting structures within ERP/accounting systems.
- Track procurement KPIs including cost savings, on‑time delivery, and pricing variance.
- Lead and develop the purchasing team, promoting cross‑project coordination and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
- 8+ years of purchasing/procurement experience in residential development or builder‑focused construction.
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills; proven experience managing large material budgets.
- Solid knowledge of residential construction materials and Bay Area supply markets.
- Experience in a developer‑builder or owner‑rep environment preferred.
- Proficiency with ERP or accounting systems (Sage experience a plus).
- Leadership experience managing teams of buyers or purchasing managers.
