The Punch Press Machine Operator configures and operates electrically powered presses to cut, shape, and form metal using presses up to 1,000 tons.
Responsibilities Include:
- Set up, adjust, and operate punch presses to perform operations such as punching, blanking, forming, and coinage.
- Position and align die components, securing the bottom section to the press bed or bolster plate, and the top section to the ram using ram “T” slot bolts and nuts.
- Set up multiple-purpose adjustable punching dies according to specific dimensional requirements for each job.
- Set up and synchronize automatic material feeds.
- Use scales, calipers, micrometers, templates, patterns, or samples to set up and verify the quality of work.
Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of manufacturing experience, preferably in heavy machine operation.
- Strong math skills and the ability to read, interpret, and follow blueprints, schematics, and work instructions.
- Ability to take precise measurements using inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Ability to work 10 hours in a physically demanding environment, including walking, standing, lifting, twisting, turning, pushing, and pulling.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Key Information:
- Potential to earn multi-machine premiums and piece rate incentives on top of hourly pay. Overtime (41-48 hours) is paid at time and a half; hours above 49 are paid at double time.
- Training on 1st shift – 5 AM to 3 PM (Monday – Friday) & 5 AM to 10 AM on Saturdays. Shift will change to 2nd shift after 90 days: 3 PM to 1 AM (Monday - Friday) and a mid-shift on Saturday from 10 AM to 3 PM.
- Mandatory 55-hour workweeks.
