Baltimore County invites applications for a role in the Department of Public Works and Transportation, Bureau of Utilities, Pumping Division. Under close supervision, participates in repair, maintenance, inspection and installation of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components at sewerage pumping stations and related facilities.
The position involves operating vehicles, multiple pieces of equipment, and general housekeeping.
Pay Schedule II, Grade H18, Regular Schedule:40 hours per week

Under close supervision, participates in the repair, maintenance, inspection, and installation of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components used in sewerage pumping stations, treatment plants, and related facilities. Responsible for operating vehicles, multiple pieces of equipment and housekeeping in support of pumping operations.

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
Experience in installation and light maintenance of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
One year preferred experience in the repair, maintenance, and installation of mechanical equipment in a sewerage pumping station or sewerage treatment plant.
(Related training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.)
Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a noncommercial, class C Maryland driver's license is required at the time of appointment.

Qualified applicants will be assigned a rating based on an evaluation of their training and experience, as stated on their application. Employees in this classification may be assigned to a work shift which includes nights, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Employees in this classification are subject to call to duty in emergencies, and will be required to work overtime as needed.
The work of this classification entails the performance of heavy physical labor including bending, stooping, lifting and carrying heavy objects, and the operation of vehicles, tools, and equipment. Work requires exposure to potentially hazardous conditions such as raw sewerage, confined space, adverse weather, and live electrical wires.
