Job summary

Baltimore County is seeking a Pumping Station Mechanic I to support the Department of Public Works and Transportation, Bureau of Utilities, Pumping Division in Towson, MD. The role involves maintaining sewerage pumping stations, operating equipment, and supporting plumbing and electrical systems.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, and experience with electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. A valid MD driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in installation and light maintenance of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • One year preferred experience in repair, maintenance, and installation of mechanical equipment in a sewerage pumping station or sewerage treatment plant.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in regular, preventive maintenance of sewerage pumping stations.
  • Performs minor repairs and maintenance to pumps, motors, and control systems.
  • Assists in major repairs of mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Retrieves tools, supplies, and equipment for mechanics or others.
  • Participates in inspection, maintenance and repair of pumps.
  • Greases pumps and checks belts, hoses, and seals.
  • Prepares work orders using county software and equipment.
