The City of North Myrtle Beach seeks a Pump Mechanic II to maintain and repair water and wastewater pumps. The role involves assisting with mechanical and electrical repairs, performing chemical testing, and operating heavy equipment. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and relevant certifications, with physical capabilities to operate equipment.
Under close supervision, maintains and repairs water and wastewater pumps to ensure continuous operations. Assists Pump Mechanic II with mechanical and electrical repairs, prepares maintenance records, and performs related activities. Conducts chemical testing, changes NH3 and CL2 cylinders as required, takes readings, operates heavy equipment, and performs other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or GED required.
At least one year of mechanical/electrical maintenance and repair experience.
Note: The City retains the right to determine equivalencies. Any certifications not possessed at hire must be obtained before the employee is removed from probation to continue employment with the City.
Must be physically able to operate a backhoe, dump truck, crane truck, vactor truck, computer, and various small tools. Capable of exerting up to fifty pounds of force occasionally, twenty-five pounds frequently, and ten pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, or pull objects. Able to lift and carry weights of 10 to 50 pounds.
