Area I - Vehicle/Equipment Repair Technician II (Line Mechanic) - TBD

Job Description

Inspect, perform preventive maintenance, diagnose, and repair vehicles at one of the eleven (11) AREA I bus maintenance shops. Maintain accurate records of parts and inventory, and ensure compliance with safety, weather, and environmental policies. Respond to service calls, evaluate vehicle issues, and perform repairs or report major problems to supervisors. Keep work areas organized and equipment in good condition.

Work Schedule

Hourly position, 40 hours/week, 8 or 10-hour days, with a workday range from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Location

Positions are located at specific AREA I bus maintenance shops and do not float between shops. Indicate your preferred shop assignments in the supplemental questions. Shops include: Aiken, Brunson, Darlington, Florence, Latta, Lee, Lexington, Marlboro, Orangeburg, Sumter, and Williamsburg counties.

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience performing automotive or related repairs independently.
  • Two (2) years of mechanical experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 50 pounds and move objects weighing 125 pounds over 30 feet.
  • Ability to operate power, hydraulic, and electronic equipment.
  • Must obtain within 120 days a valid Class A or B CDL with Tank Vehicle, Passenger, and Air Brake endorsements, Tanker Operation certification, and pass background checks.
  • Successful candidates will undergo drug screening and a medical exam.
