Job summary

RTX is offering a full-time onsite co-op in Rockford, IL, focused on Fuel and Oil pump development and production support. You will work with design engineers, perform CFD analyses, and contribute to root-cause corrective actions for pump programs.

The role is ideal for Mechanical or Aerospace students who are pursuing a degree and are eager to gain hands-on experience with CAD/CFD tools while supporting field investigations and supplier communications.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related STEM major and actively enrolled through the internship/co-op session.
  • Experience using analytical and development software such as MATLAB, CAD, NX, and/or AutoCAD.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and/or PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Provide Engineering support and ownership for the Fuel and Oil pump product line in support of new development pump design efforts and production/fielded pump programs.
  • Support lead design engineers in performance of CFD analysis in support of new pump designs and field investigations.
  • Lead RCCA efforts to identify causes and mitigation plans for issues affecting pump program productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction.
  • Provide customer support for Field Failure investigations.
  • Resolve SRIs by providing clarifications and processing Change Requests (CRs).

What You Will Do:
  • Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run June-December (including the Fall semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity).
  • Provide Engineering support and ownership for the Fuel and Oil pump product line in support of new development pump design efforts and production/fielded pump programs
  • Support lead design engineers in performance of CFD analysis in support of new pump designs and field investigations
  • Lead Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) efforts to identify causes and mitigation plans for issues affecting pump program productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction
  • Provide customer support for Field Failure investigations
  • Resolve Supplier Requests for Information (SRIs) by providing clarifications and processing Change Requests (CRs)
What You Will Learn:
  • Manage piece part supplier transitions
  • Pursue cost saving opportunities to maximize project profitability.
  • Consolidate and present plans and progress reports relating to business aspects of the project.
  • Support Quality investigations as necessary when piece-part issues affect product deliveries.
  • Verify internal processes are being executed to reduce probability of engineering turn backs.
  • Read and interpret drawings, provide mark ups, and coordinate drawing changes.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
  • Experience using analytical and developmental software such as MATLAB, CAD, NX, and/or AutoCAD
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and/or PowerPoint)

  • Experience with mechanical hardware is preferred

This position is classified as: Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. Salary

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
