Job summary

University of California San Diego in La Jolla seeks a Medical Assistant for the Faculty Practice Pulmonary. Under supervision, you perform patient care duties and assist with scheduling, chart prep, and billing. This 80% appointment is a career position with 8-hour shifts, Monday–Friday.

Requires CMA or MA training, BART/BLS at hire with six months to obtain BART, and at least two years of MA experience. Knowledge of EPIC and Cadence is a plus; bilingual is a plus.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six months of hire date.
• Minimum two years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Experience scheduling patient appointments, chart preparation and managing in-basket messages.
• Demonstrated knowledge of prior authorization for medications and DME follow-up.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Medical terminology, online scheduling, universal precautions, and proper use of body mechanics.
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative, prioritize demands and work in a team environment.

Responsibilities
