UC San Diego Health in San Diego, CA seeks a Medical Assistant for the Pulmonary and Sleep departments. Under supervision, you will support patient care, schedule appointments, prepare charts, and assist with billing and documentation.
Responsibilities include obtaining prior authorizations for medications, DME follow-up, managing in-basket messages, maintaining clean and safe clinical spaces, and coordinating with EPIC/Cadence workflows. May float to related sites as needed.

Under direct supervision of the clinic manager and the general supervision of the clinic providers and licensed nursing staff, performs work which requires specific knowledge and training in patient care duties within the business and professions code of the State of California and/or the regulations of The Joint Commission (TJC).
These duties also include but are not limited to: scheduling of patient appointments and associated patient system screens; chart preparation; accurate billing; obtain prior authorization for medications; DME follow-up; managing in-basket message; environmental care functions; equipment/supply management; and cleaning/disinfecting the environment. Requires knowledge of medical terminology, online scheduling, universal precautions, and proper use of body mechanics. Position requires initiative, the ability to prioritize demands and the ability to work in a team environment. Other related duties as assigned.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
Minimum two (2) years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
Experience scheduling patient appointments, chart preparation and managing in-basket messages.
Demonstrated knowledge of prior authorization for medications and DME follow-up.
Demonstrated knowledge of Medical terminology, on-line scheduling, universal precautions, and proper use of body mechanics.
Demonstrated ability to take initiative, prioritize demands and work in a team environment.
Annual Full Pay Range: $56,063 - $74,020 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $26.85 - $35.45
