The Pulmonary Function Technician (PFT) performs all Pulmonary Function and Cardio-Pulmonary Stress testing in accordance with established criteria. Completes all relevant clinical documentation for accuracy and completeness to meet JCAHO and Medicare standards.
In addition to the skills normally obtained through completion of a High School education, must also be a graduate of an American Medical Association (AMA) accredited Associate's Degree Program in Respiratory Care or the equivalent.
Current Respiratory Therapist license in the State of Rhode Island and must be nationally certified or certification eligible.
One year of Pulmonary Function testing experience is required.
Work is performed in a clean, well-lighted, and well-ventilated environment. Exposure to disagreeable odors, bodily wastes, contaminated equipment, infectious diseases, and potentially combative patients. Ability to carry, push, and pull equipment and gas cylinders weighing between 50-150 pounds. Must adhere to all safety regulations, Infection Control Policies, and Universal Precautions, and meet all safety requirements of the Medical Center.
