Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in respiratory therapy or related field.
• BLS certification required.
• Six months of relevant clinical experience in a technical, lab, or acute care setting.

Responsibilities

• Explain test procedures to patients and help them relax and cooperate.
• Collect diagnostic information from patients' records as outlined in procedures.
• Escort patients to the pulmonary function laboratory.
• Perform lung volume testing with gas analyzers, recorders, and spirometers.
• Draw blood for blood gas studies and perform related tests.
• Enter calculated data into computer for analysis.
• Assist during exercise testing and other special testing.
• Perform clerical duties and maintain equipment in working order.
