Job summary

The University of Georgia Libraries seeks a Production Coordinator to manage editing, design, and production of scholarly books. You will oversee 5–8 frontlist titles yearly, typeset 3–5 titles, and coordinate ebook conversions and accessibility. Collaboration with freelancers and vendors is essential.

Preferred candidates hold a humanities/liberal arts background with experience in publishing, editing, and manuscript preparation. This is a full-time on-site role in Athens, GA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in humanities/liberal arts or social sciences.
  • Experience related to book design, production, file conversion, and printing technology preferred.
  • Electronic editing experience with MSWord preferred.
  • Experience working at a book or scholarly journal publisher or equivalent freelance design, production, and editorial experience with book publishers preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate design, composition, printing, and ebook production for 5–8 frontlist titles per year.
  • Typeset 3–5 frontlist titles per year.
  • Coordinate the editing and production of new-in-paperback and restock titles; arrange print-ready cover and text files.
  • Coordinate digitization of backlist titles for ebook production and ebook accessibility remediation.
  • Edit 5–8 frontlist titles per year including manuscript preparation, editing indexes, and proofreading.
  • Maintain liaison with freelancers, production vendors, and press colleagues.
