Job summary

Trident Media Group in New York, NY is seeking a Contracts Manager to join our Business Affairs team. The role oversees publishing contracts from deal negotiation through execution and ongoing administration, ensuring accuracy and timely workflow.

You will work with literary agents, authors, publishers, and internal teams, reviewing and negotiating agreements, drafting amendments, and guiding associates. A meticulous, deadline-driven professional with strong contract knowledge is ideal.

Qualifications

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented contracts professional.
  • Experience managing publishing contracts and related agreements.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Business Affairs department and coordinate workflow of publishing and subrights contracts through the entire lifecycle
  • Review and negotiate publishing agreements in line with industry standards and company policies, including amendments, assignments, or other related documents
  • Review and correct draft agreements and redlines prepared by department members
  • Train and provide ongoing guidance to Contracts Associate and Assistant
  • Advise agents on compliance and contractual matters
  • Communicate potential contract risks and/or conflicts to agents and Chairman
  • Work with outside counsel on author contracts as needed
  • Draft client/agency agreements and work with agents to negotiate terms
