Job summary

Vaco Recruiter Services in Irving, TX is seeking a Controller for a newly created role. The position is hybrid with 2-3 days in the office and offers $150,000-$175,000 base salary plus bonus and stock compensation.

The successful candidate will lead day-to-day accounting, own the close process, ensure GAAP compliance, and supervise AP/AR. Publicly traded company experience and CPA are required, with opportunities to expand into broader finance leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience.
• CPA is required.
• Publicly traded company experience is required.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and month-end close processes.
• Experience leading or mentoring accounting staff.
• Ability to thrive in evolving processes and limited structure.
• Familiarity with process automation or AI-driven accounting initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day accounting operations of the business.
• Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Maintain oversight of the general ledger and ensure GAAP compliance.
• Supervise and develop the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
• Oversee inventory and cost accounting activities, ensuring accurate valuation and reporting.
• Identify and resolve accounting issues while improving efficiency and accuracy of processes.
• Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, scalability, and internal controls.
• Partner with leadership on AI and automation initiatives to modernize accounting and finance processes.
• Gain exposure to budgeting, forecasting, and FP&A activities with finance leadership.
