Publicist or Senior Publicist

Verso Books is looking for a Publicist or Senior Publicist to join the team in Verso’s New York office. This role will be responsible for securing interviews, reviews, features, op-eds, events, and online coverage for up to 30 new books a year, working across a wide range of subject areas (including politics and world history, economics and sociology, ecology and climate change, race, gender and feminism, art and culture).

We are seeking someone with good relationships with the book reviewers at mainstream media, as well as with cultural and political outlets. Candidates will need to manage several trade book publicity campaigns each season while also overseeing other departmental responsibilities. A willingness to try new and innovative approaches to publicity and collaborative marketing is strongly encouraged.

2-3 years of experience in publicity is preferred, as well as a good understanding of and sympathy with our list and publishing project.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:


Manage North American publicity campaigns for approximately 10-15 titles each season
Arrange seasonal meetings with key media and events contacts
Facilitates author tours and events programs as appropriate for titles

Create high quality press materials
Oversee relationships with a range of media contacts
Maintain departmental records and budgets

This position is a hybrid role, but candidates will need to be able to work from our Manhattan office on a regular basis. The salary range is $58,500 - 68,000 depending on experience.
