Job summary

City of Forest Grove seeks an entry‑level Utility Worker for Public Works to perform routine maintenance, construction and repair on streets, water and sewer systems, and related infrastructure. You will operate a range of equipment and assist in maintaining drivers' safety and traffic control.

Ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of maintenance experience; a valid driver's license is required, with CDL A and tanker endorsement within 12 months.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
• One year of maintenance and repair experience.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.
• CDL A with tanker endorsement within twelve months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on City streets, water and sewer systems.
• Carry out curb, gutter and driveway maintenance; break up paved surfaces; place forms; pour concrete.
• Maintain street surfaces; patch potholes; lay asphalt.
• Operate heavy and light equipment and tools safely.
• Place cones and signs to define work areas; excavate trenches and fill them.
• Clean and conduct minor maintenance on equipment and facilities; maintain vehicles.
• Repair breaks in water and sewer mains; review maps for valve locations; assist in valve work.
• Operate backhoe to clear debris and storm drain outlets; haul debris.
• Maintain and repair pipes of various materials.
• Operate vactors, forklifts and other vehicles in storm drainage works; perform confined space entry as required.
• Contribute to a positive work environment; maintain attendance and punctuality.
• Perform other related duties as needed.
